Tweet Tank

About The Project

Students in the Tweet Tank Lab

Many of our interactions today are relayed through social networking sites and blogs, and as such we have to negotiate these online environments and make judgments about how much, and what, information we are broadcasting across the Internet.

This Hatch project investigates how people negotiate issues of privacy in an online environment by providing a deep analysis of the vastly popular micro-blogging platform and social networking site Twitter. By examining the type of personal information that is shared on Twitter, the faculty and students not only seek to gain insight into the degree of privacy in online environments, but also to explore best practices for micro-blogs and for privacy on the Internet. This project runs from October 1st, 2010 to September 30, 2013. The project is supported by funding from USDA-Hatch and Cornell University.
